Sharaku is known as a mysterious ukiyo-e artist who created works in a short period of around 10 months from May 1794 (Kansei 6) to January 1795 (Kansei 7) and suddenly disappeared. Using deformations, his works are highly regarded worldwide as the ultimate in portraits today.
